PERENNIAL MEDICINE -
5 Element Emotion Assessment...
and Transformation

In Chinese medicine, emotion is approached differently than in Western psychology; emotion is considered to be integral to physiology as well as spirit.  How do we respond to our clients’ emotional processes in keeping with our Chinese medicine paradigm?  If we do not have these skills, we may be tempted either to ignore the emotional content of our clients’ presentation, or to psychologize and “counsel” in the Western style.

Emotion assessment skills are essential to establishing a full 5 element diagnosis. It is also relevant to TCM acupuncturists/ herbalists who are frequently confronted by a knotty tangle of patterns of disharmony in the client, and who need to find out WHAT IS THE ROOT CAUSE of this illness?

5 Element Emotion Assessing is a primarily non-verbal way to help others identify and convey their deepest existential concern.  Initially this is expressed as a "stuck" or recurrent emotion.  The emotion assessment is then confirmed when the practitioner assists the client through the transformation of the emotion, to return to the health or Virtue of the Element.  In this workshop, participants will learn to assist the constitutional Transformation of Virtue of each of the 5 Elements.
Many practitioners are hesitant to do thorough emotion assessment with their clients, because without adequate training the process can feel artificial, awkward or manipulative.  In a supportive environment where it is safe to experiment, participants in this workshop will receive clear and specific strategies-- including individual feedback and coaching-- in how to assess all 5 Elements.

I PROMISE YOU this will be an experience very much UNLIKE what you learned in school! !  People generally leave these workshops feeling like they never knew how much inner territory they were not accessing in their own lives-- and how much more easily relationships flow when they do.

Treatment Blocks
(no course prerequisite, for acupunturists)

One of the richest resources of the 5 element acupuncture tradition is the use of Treatment Block protocols such as Aggressive Energy, Husband/Wife Imbalance, Exit/Entry blocks, Possession, and many more.

A Treatment Block is, essentially, a system-not-responding-to-stimulus condition causing the client to be either fully or partially unresponsive to ordinary treatment methods.  Learning how to recognize the presence of these treatment blocks in your clients, and knowing how to clear them effectively, can frequently produce dramatic results in otherwise difficult cases.

This seminar offers an overview of 5 element treatment methodology, and an in-depth exploration of the various treatment block protocols.  This seminar is a treasure trove of practical insights for TCM practitioners.  For 5 element practitioners, it is an exploration of the energetic significance of the various treatment block protocols.  This allows us to support clients in the deeper issues which may be giving rise to these blocks.
